Inclusivity & comfort
Everyone is welcome in my chair.
This is a safe space, proudly LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent-friendly.
Come as you are. Stim, infodump, wear your headphones, bring a support person or a comfort item, ask all the questions. Whatever helps you feel safe and settled is welcome here.
"What do we mean when we talk about client comfort"
Yes, of course, tattoos hurt. There will always be a level of discomfort that's unavoidable. But that doesn't mean the rest of the process has to be an uncomfortable one.
Comfort isn't just physical. It extends to every single part of the tattoo process. Are booking forms accessible? Are consultations available? Are multiple points of consent being established throughout the procedure? Those things matter.
Clients trust their artist to bring their visions to life and permanently change their lives. You literally give me a part of yourself, so your comfort should be one of my main concerns, not an afterthought.
There's a well-known "tough guy" mentality in tattooing, where requests for accommodation get dismissed or mocked as unreasonable, so a lot of people stay silent about their discomfort. I don't work that way. Not everything works for everyone, disability isn't always visible, and voicing concerns can be overwhelming, so I make sure there's clear, regular opportunity to do so.
When you work with me, I will…
- Give you many opportunities to voice any concerns you may have.
- Make sure you can properly review and approve the stencil and its placement.
- Offer fidget toys and headphones.
- Regularly ask if you need a break.
- Have snacks available if you need them.
- Give you clear aftercare instructions and room to ask any questions.
- Let you know how to reach me if you have any concerns while you heal.
